Virt-Manager URLS

I use virt-manager coupled with qemu and friends to manage my virtual machine environment on Linux1.

One small annoyance when navigating within the UI of virt-manager is when creating a new machine from local install media (ISO image or CDROM).

On the subsequent screen (see screenshot below) there is a select menu, labelled Choose ISO or CDROM install media:. This drop down menu can become bloated over time with previously downloaded and thusly selected images which may no longer be relevant to your current setup.

The following steps will allow you to query this listing and allow you reset it to an empty array.

Create a new virtual machine dialog
Choose ISO or CDROM install media

View current ISO history

gsettings get org.virt-manager.virt-manager.urls isos

Clear (reset) the ISO history

gsettings reset org.virt-manager.virt-manager.urls isos

  1. I am running Arch Linux and use the Gnome Desktop Environment (YMMV).
